Thin sample alloy solidification in electromagnetic driven convection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
During the directional solidification of Ga-In25%wt., density variations in the liquid cause plumes of solute to be ejected from the interface through natural convection.

Understanding the Role of Superhydrophobicity on Heat Transfer Enhancement During Dropwise Condensation in Humid Air Flow

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study explores the performance of superhydrophobic surfaces during condensation from humid air, showing a 30%–40% heat transfer enhancement at high air velocities, but no advantage at low velocities. Improved droplet removal and vapor mass transfer through the non‐condensable gas layer explain the effect, clarifying operating conditions for ...

Moisture transfer in free and forced convection

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, 1965
AbstractThe vertical transfer of moisture is examined under conditions where the Richardson number varies from − 2.5 to + 2.9. The use of a non‐dimensional evaporative flux, similar to Priestley's (1959) non‐dimensional sensible heat flux, and extensive data from the Davis lysimeter field show a smooth transition from forced to free convection.

Surface‐Engineered Solar‐Driven Interfacial Evaporation: Innovations and Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the fundamental principles of solar‐driven evaporation and presents methodologies for evaluating key performance parameters. Particular attention is given to the design of surface‐engineered evaporators, especially those incorporating polyelectrolyte‐modified interfaces to enhance water activation.
