ADAPTIVE COMPUTATIONS OF TURBULENT FORCED CONVECTION
Numerical Heat Transfer, Part A: Applications, 1998This article presents an adaptive finite element method for solving incompressible turbulent flows with heat transfer. Solutions are obtained in primitive variables using a highly accurate quadratic finite element method on unstructured grids. Turbulence modeling is achieved using the k-e model.

Forced Convection Boiling in Tubes
Nuclear Science and Engineering, 1962Local heat transfer coefficients and pressure gradients have been measured for bulk boiling of water in forced flow (vertically upward) in round tubes with internal diameters ranging from 0.1162 to...

Forced Convection Normal Helium
1986In many applications of cryogenics, cooling is achieved best by confining the fluid to a tube or duct and circulating it through the system in a closed loop. Several aspects of this method distinguish it from immersion cooling in a pool of liquid. First, the fluid characteristics are more variable because the system is not restricted to operation in ...

Forced Convection Film Boiling
1983The mechanism of heat transfer beyond the dryout point in forced convection boiling is described. Selected empirical correlation equations are presented for predicting wall temperature or heat flux. Also phenomenological models leading to predictions of Tw and q are presented.

The driving force for magnetospheric convection
Reviews of Geophysics, 1978The most popular concept for the driving force for magnetospheric convection has been that merging of the interplanetary magnetic field with the geomagnetic field at the front of the magnetosphere establishes a good electrically conducting path between the solar wind and the polar ionosphere; the flow of electrical energy then provides the driving ...

Laminar Incompressible Forced Convection
2015This chapter presents a simple introduction to momentum balances and laminar one-dimensional flow and then moves on to transient analysis of one-dimensional flows. By studying this chapter you will learn how to obtain the average velocity from a knowledge of the velocity profile and, in contrast, the average temperature from a temperature profile in ...
