Biomechanics of Collective Cell Migration in Cancer Progression -- Experimental and Computational Methods [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Cell migration is essential for regulating many biological processes in physiological or pathological conditions, including embryonic development and cancer invasion. In vitro and in silico studies suggest that collective cell migration is associated with some biomechanical particularities, such as restructuring of extracellular matrix, stress and ...

Oxidation‐Driven Enhancement of Intrinsic Properties in MXene Electrodes for High‐Performance Flexible Energy Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By employing a partial oxidation strategy, nanosized pores are introduced into MXene nanosheets. The resulting holey MXene exhibits faster ionic transport, achieving an aerial capacitance 2.5 times that of unmodified MXene electrodes, and demonstrates excellent cycling stability, retaining 91.7% of its capacitance after 10 000 cycles.

Electrically Induced Negative Differential Resistance States Mediated by Oxygen Octahedra Coupling in Manganites for Neuronal Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The negative differential resistance is exploited, using a La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 thin film network to demonstrate various neuronal functionalities of the human brain, such as leaky‐integrate‐fire and oscillatory patterns. Transmission electron microscope studies show local modification in oxygen octahedra in the network leads to co‐existing phases ...

Valuable Beyond Vulnerable: A Scoping Review on the Contributions of Older Forced Migrants in Post-migration Recovery

open access: yesInternational Journal of Disaster Risk Science
During times of crisis, including pandemics, climate change, and forced migration, much of the discourse in ageing research and intervention centers on the vulnerabilities of older adults. Unfortunately, the valuable contributions of older adults to post-

Who owns and drives capacity building? [PDF]

open access: yesForced Migration Review, 2007
Capacity building is context specific and often subject to North-South political games. This is often apparent in Regional Consultative Processes (RCPRCP), fora for states, international organisations and NGO s to informally exchange information on ...

Electric Pulse Regulated MXene Based Nanozymes for Integrative Bioelectricity Immuno‐Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MXenzyme‐mediated bioelectricity cancer therapy (MXenzyme‐BECT) enhances cancer cell death through irreversible depolarization, ion channel disruption, ROS generation, and immunogenic cell death. Computational simulations reveal the electrical mechanisms by which MXenzyme acts on single cells and support to predict treatment parameters. Next‐generation
