Forced oscillation dynamics of surface nanobubbles [PDF]
Surface nanobubbles have potential applications in the manipulation of nanoscale and biological materials, waste-water treatment, and surface cleaning. These spherically capped bubbles of gas can exist in stable diffusive equilibrium on chemically patterned or rough hydrophobic surfaces, under supersaturated conditions.

High-Frequency Orographically Forced Variability in a Single-Layer Model of the Martian Atmosphere [PDF]
A shallow water model with realistic topography and idealized zonal wind forcing is used to investigate orographically forced modes in the Martian atmosphere.

This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

Vortex-induced vibration of cylinder under sub-critical Reynolds number
ObjectiveIn order to achieve the accurate prediction of the amplitude response of a vortex-induced vibrating cylinder under the sub-critical Reynolds number, a method for establishing a Cl-A/D (lift coefficient-amplitude ratio)model of the forced ...

Resonance Surfaces for Forced Oscillators [PDF]
The study of resonances in systemssuch as periodically forced oscillators has traditionally focused on understanding the regions in the parameter plane where these resonances occur. Resonance regions can also be viewed as projections to the parameter plane of resonance surfaces in the four-dimensional Cartesian product of the state space with the ...

A Phase Front Instability in Periodically Forced Oscillatory Systems
Multiplicity of phase states within frequency locked bands in periodically forced oscillatory systems may give rise to front structures separating states with different phases. A new front instability is found within bands where $\omega_{forcing}/\omega_{

High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

We study the breathing oscillations in bose-fermi mixtures with Yb isotopes in the largely prolate deformed trap, which are realized by Kyoto group. We choose the three combinations of the Yb isotopes, Yb170-Yb171, Yb170-Yb173 and Yb174-Yb173, whose ...

Response of a flexible filament in a flowing soap film subject to a forced vibration [PDF]
The interactions between flexible plates and fluids are important physical phenomena. A flag in wind is one of the most simplified and classical models for studying the problem.
