Component mode synthesis and large deflection vibration of complex structures. Volume 3: Multiple-mode nonlinear free and forced vibrations of beams using finite element method [PDF]
Multiple-mode nonlinear forced vibration of a beam was analyzed by the finite element method. Inplane (longitudinal) displacement and inertia (IDI) are considered in the formulation.

SI‐bioATRP in Mesoporous Silica for Size‐Exclusion Driven Local Polymer Placement
An enzyme‐catalyzed surface‐initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI‐bioATRP) of an anionic monomer within mesoporous silica particles, using hemoglobin as a catalyst, allows for controlling the location of the formed polymer via size‐exclusion effects between the nanopores and the biomacromolecules, thereby opening routes to functional ...

Experimental forced vibration responses of test houses during the Edwards Air Force Base phase of the national sonic boom test program [PDF]
Experimental vibration studies were conducted on two houses to determine some of the dynamic response characteristics, resulting from sonic boom. The primary objectives of the vibration tests were to identify the mode shapes associated with the various ...

Geometry‐Dependent Adhesion in Transparent Monodomain Liquid Crystal Elastomers
Liquid Crystal Elastomers (LCEs) are emerging as exciting pressure‐sensitive adhesives. We examine adhesion in chemically identical elastomer films, exploring the influence of geometry (director orientation) and phase (nematic or isotropic). We demonstrate the potential of these aligned films as transparent, tunable, broad‐temperature‐range smart ...

In‐situ doping during growth of SnSe and subsequent attachment of SnS produces high‐quality lateral pn‐heterojunctions between van der Waals semiconductors. Electron beam induced current measurements demonstrate electrically active pn‐junctions, paving the way for devices that harness charge separation at lateral interfaces in layered heterostructures.

Passively Conducted Vibration Sensing with Fiber Bragg Gratings
Measuring vibrations is a common method of monitoring the integrity of structures and heavy machinery, that are subject to dynamic loads. Strong vibrations for prolonged periods of time can be caused by various sources, such as trains, motors and heavy ...

High‐energy electron impact in plasma catalysis often causes excessive dissociation of active intermediates, limiting C2+ product selectivity. To address this challenge, a bio‐inspired stoma‐shell nanoarchitecture is designed to decouple electron impact from catalytic reaction zones.
