Optimal control of transverse vibration of Euler-Bernoulli beam with multiple dynamic vibration absorbers using Taguchi's method

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 2018
Vibration absorbers are frequently used to suppress the excessive vibrations in structural systems. In this paper, an imposing nodes technique is applied for vibration suppression of Euler-Bernoulli beams subjected to forced harmonic excitations by ...

An examination of gas compressor stability and rotating stall [PDF]

open access: yes
The principal sources of vibration related reliability problems in high pressure centrifugal gas compressors are the re-excitation of the first critical speed or Resonant Subsynchronous Vibration (RSSV), and the forced vibration due to rotating stall in ...

Vibration as an exercise modality: how it may work, and what its potential might be [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Whilst exposure to vibration is traditionally regarded as perilous, recent research has focussed on potential benefits. Here, the physical principles of forced oscillations are discussed in relation to vibration as an exercise modality.

Formation of Stable Amorphous Calcium Phosphate and Collagen Assemblies by a Versatile Spray‐Drying Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) microparticles with long‐term and thermal stability are prepared with or without collagen using a scalable one‐pot spray‐drying process. Under simulated physiological conditions, they crystallize into biomimetic bone mineral and, when combined with collagen, form extrudable, fibrillar bone‐like 3D constructs.

Nanoscale Mapping of Plasmonic Charge Transport in Nano‐Resonators Based on Resistive Switching Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this strategy, a conductive nano‐probe is employed to induce nanoscale phase transitions and map the nanoscale conductivity and trap density of GST films. By utilizing the contrasting properties of phase‐change states, nano‐resonators are fabricated that exhibit plasmonic conduction and dramatically different transport characteristics.

Studies on the Forced Vibration During Grinding

open access: yesTransactions of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1976
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of forced vibrations on the geometrical accuracy of ground surface. The methods to calculate the grinding stiffness, the contact stiffness and the effect of geometrical interference between grinding wheel and workpiece which are important factors in grinding are shown and discussed.
