Lattice Vibrations and Harmonic Forces in Solids

Proceedings of the Physical Society. Section B, 1957
A discussion is given of the interpretation in terms of harmonic forces between atoms of the phonon frequency against wave vector data which is provided by the results of both X-ray and neutron scattering experiments. A knowledge of the phonon polarization vectors is required before a calculation of the components of the interatomic harmonic force ...

Control of Forced Vibrations

2015
Magnetoelastic forced vibrations of a conducting plate caused by either nonstationary external forces of nonelectromagnetic origin, or with the help of a nonstationary harmonic magnetic field, are examined. The following results are conditioned by the interaction of mechanical and electromagnetic processes in oscillating thin bodies.

Forced vibration of a multidirectional nonlinear oscillator

2017 4th International Conference on Systems and Informatics (ICSAI), 2017
This paper presents a nonlinear piezoelectric oscillator structure capable of collecting multi-directional vibrational energy. The structure is mainly composed of universal coupling, piezoelectric spring, flexible hinge and mass block. The dynamical response of the structure is similar to the spring pendulum system.

A numerical method for the forced nonlinear vibration

Mechanics Research Communications, 1983
The authors give graphs of steady periodic solutions of two special cases of two problems: a) A harmonic oscillator subject to a resistive force proportional to the velocity and a frictional force under a periodic excitation. b) A mass excited by a harmonic external force which causes another mass to move between two walls and to bounce off them. There

Grip Force Estimation by Emitting Vibration

Adjunct Publication of the 30th Annual ACM Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology, 2017
We propose a method for determining grip force based on active bone-conducted sound sensing, which is an active acoustic sensing. In our previous studies, we estimated the joint angle, hand pose, and contact force by emitting a vibration to the body. We aspired to expand to an additional application of an active bone-conducted sound sensing, thus, we ...

Forced Vibrations of Arches

2011
This chapter is devoted to forced vibration analysis of arches and arched structures subjected to disturbing loads. Different types of arches and theirs loading are considered. Analytical methods of analysis are applied.

Forced Vibration with Damping

American Journal of Physics, 1955
The experimental determination of the response curves for forced vibration with velocity damping, using a moving-coil galvanometer, is described. The mechanism for producing a sinusoidal emf, of continuously variable frequency ranging from zero to 0.4 cy/sec, is described, together with a method for the determination of the phase angle between the ...

Forced Vibration of a Body on an Elastic Stratum

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1957
Abstract The paper considers the forced vibration of a body with a circular base resting on a homogeneous elastic stratum of infinite surface area and constant depth. The body is subjected to a vertical disturbing force along the axis of symmetry.
