Effects of vibration in forced posture on biochemical bone metabolism indices, and morphometric and mechanical properties of the lumbar vertebra. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Epidemiological studies have shown a relatively strong association between occupational lower back pain (LBP) and long-term exposure to vibration. However, there is limited knowledge of the impact of vibration and sedentariness on bone metabolism of the ...

An Evaluation Method for Dry Friction Damping of Ring Damper in Gas Turbine Engines under Axial Vibration

open access: yesAerospace, 2021
The blisks and labyrinth seals in gas turbine engines are typical rotating periodic structures. Vibration problems will inevitably occur during the operation, which can easily lead to High Cycle Fatigue failure of the structure.

Performance of piezoelectric shunts for vibration reduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This work addresses passive reduction of structural vibration by means of shunted piezoelectric patches. The two classical resistive and resonant shunt solutions are considered.

Advancing Research on Biomaterials and Biological Materials with Scanning Electron Microscopy under Environmental and Low Vacuum Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

Rheocasting versus Die Casting: An Insight into the Low‐Cycle Fatigue Behavior of AlSi7Mg0.6

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study compares rheocast lightweight components with high‐pressure die cast materials regarding microstructure and fatigue behavior. Rheocast process offers higher efficiency due to lower casting temperatures. Despite some microstructural differences, both processes show similar strengths (yield strength 125 MPa, tensile strength 240 MPa).

Can Ti‐Based MXenes Serve as Solid Lubricants for Brake Applications? A Tribological Study

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the first implementation of Ti‐based MXenes materials in brake pad friction composite material. The resulting composite material exhibits a 48% reduction in the wear rate; alongside significant improvements are observed for thermal and mechanical properties.

Analysis of Vibrational Performance of A Piezoelectric Micropump with Diffuse/Nozzle Microchannel

open access: yesNanotechnology and Precision Engineering, 2018
: Piezoelectric transducers of different external diameters are designed and fabricated and incorporated into micropumps. Through finite element analysis, it is shown that the volume efficiency of the micropump reaches its maximum value for the first ...

Investigating Vibration Acceleration of a Segmented Piezoelectric Ciliary-Like Body Beam for a Tactile Feedback Device

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
A piezoelectric Ciliary-like body beam of a tactile feedback device can realize a touchpoint of different tactile sensations under simple control when the finger movement changes to the opposite direction.

Rotor vibration caused by external excitation and rub [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
For turbomachinery with low natural frequencies, considerations have been recently required for rotor vibrations caused by external forces except unbalance one, such as foundation motion, seismic wave, rub and so forth.
