Integrating Edge Routing into Force-Directed Layout [PDF]
Force-directed layout is typically used to create organic-looking, straight-edge drawings of large graphs while combinatorial techniques are generally preferred for high-quality layout of small to medium sized graphs. In this paper we integrate edge-routing techniques into a force-directed layout method based on constrained stress majorisation.

Influence of Swash Dynamics and Wave Spectral Structure on Beach Cusp Geometry
Beach cusp geometry arises from coupled hydrodynamic and morphodynamic feedback in the swash zone. This study used the numerical model XBeach in nonhydrostatic mode to examine cusp development on an idealized sandy beach forced by monochromatic ...

Mitigation of Turbine Vane Shock Waves Through Trailing Edge Cooling
The immense market demand on the high efficiency and lightweight aero-engines results in designs with compact high-pressure turbine stages experiencing supersonic flow field. In supersonic turbines, shocks appear at the vane trailing edges.

The evolution of a shallow front in the Arctic marginal ice zone
The high degree of heterogeneity in the ice-ocean-atmosphere system in marginal ice zones leads to a complex set of dynamics which control fluxes of heat and buoyancy in the upper ocean. Strong fronts may occur near the ice edge between the warmer waters

Forced Edges and Graph Structure
For a degree sequence, we define the set of edges that appear in every labeled realization of that sequence as forced, while the edges that appear in none are define as forbidden. We examine the structure of graphs in which the degree sequences contain either forced or forbidden edges. The results include

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Hybrid NOMA and ZF Pre-Coding Transmission for Multi-Cell VLC Networks
Though visible-light communication (VLC) channels are contained by opaque boundaries, they present unique challenges in the development of multi-user/multi-cell scenarios.

Near-Field Aeroacoustics of Spanwise Forcing on a Transonic Wing: A DNS Study
The transonic airflow around a supercritical wing with a shock wave is described via direct numerical simulations. Flow control for turbulent drag reduction is applied via streamwise traveling waves of spanwise velocity applied on a finite portion of the
