Object Detection Based on Sparse Representation of Foreground

Objects detection can be regard as the segmentation of foreground from background. In this paper, we propose a foreground segmentation method based on sparse representation of direction features for threat object detection in X-ray images. The threat objects are supposed as foreground and all other contents in the images are background.

Saliency Detection via Foreground and Background Seeds

In this paper, we come up with a bottom-up saliency algorithm that both consider the background and foreground cues. First, we compute the coarse saliency map by manifold ranking on a graph using partly image boundaries which consider as background prior. In this step, we just select left and top sides as background seeds.
