Sirolimus for Extracranial Arteriovenous Malformations: A Scoping Review of the Evidence in Syndromic and Non‐Syndromic Cases

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

Astrophysical foregrounds and primordial tensor-to-scalar ratio constraints from CMB B-mode polarization observations

open access: yes, 2012
We study the effects of astrophysical foregrounds on the ability of CMB B-mode polarization experiments to constrain the primordial tensor-to-scalar ratio, r.

Foreground separation knowledge distillation for object detection

open access: yesPeerJ Computer Science
In recent years, deep learning models have become predominant methods for computer vision tasks, but the large computation and storage requirements of many models make them challenging to deploy on devices with limited resources. Knowledge distillation (KD) is a widely used approach for model compression.

Evaluating the Utility of Paired Tumor and Germline Targeted DNA Sequencing for Pediatric Oncology Patients: A Single Institution Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic yield and utility of universal paired tumor–normal multigene panel sequencing in newly diagnosed pediatric solid and central nervous system (CNS) tumor patients and to compare the detection of germline pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants (PV/LPVs) against established clinical referral criteria for cancer ...

Detectability of 21cm-signal during the Epoch of Reionization with 21cm-Lyman-{\alpha} emitter cross-correlation. II. Foreground contamination

open access: yes, 2018
Cross-correlation between the redshifted 21 cm signal and Lyman-{\alpha} emitters (LAEs) is powerful tool to probe the Epoch of Reionization (EoR). Although the cross-power spectrum (PS) has an advantage of not correlating with foregrounds much brighter ...

Foreground detection by using multi features

open access: yesIOSR Journal of Computer Engineering, 2014
Foreground detection is an essential task in many applications and a commonly used approach to obtain foreground objects from the background. Many techniques exist, but due to shadows and changes in illumination the detection of foreground objects from the background remains challenging.

Intravitreal GD2‐Specific Chimeric Antigen Receptor T‐Cell Therapy for Refractory Retinoblastoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Effective treatments for advanced, treatment‐resistant retinoblastoma (RB) remain limited. GD2‐specific chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells show potent antitumor activity with minimal toxicity but have not previously been evaluated in RB.

The Effect of Foreground Mitigation Strategy on EoR Window Recovery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The removal of the Galactic and extragalactic foregrounds remains a major challenge for those wishing to make a detection of the Epoch of Reionization 21-cm signal.

An Edge-Based Approach for Robust Foreground Detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Foreground segmentation is an essential task in many image processing applications and a commonly used approach to obtain foreground objects from the background. Many techniques exist, but due to shadows and changes in illumination the segmentation of foreground objects from the background remains challenging.

The Application of Continuous Wavelet Transform Based Foreground Subtraction Method in 21 cm Sky Surveys

open access: yes, 2013
We propose a continuous wavelet transform based non-parametric foreground subtraction method for the detection of redshifted 21 cm signal from the epoch of reionization.
