Stem Cell Differentiation Disperses Transcriptional Clusters via a Conserved Surface‐Condensate Trajectory

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation follows a conserved surface condensate trajectory: H3K27ac super enhancers nucleate large RNA polymerase II clusters that grow and unfold before transcriptional activity disperses them. This work reveals how biophysical forces at enhancer surfaces dynamically build and dismantle stem cell transcription hubs, reshaping cell ...

Tandem Duplication‐Driven Neofunctionalization of UDP‐Glycosyltransferases Shapes the Diversification of Triterpenoid Saponins in the Cucurbitaceae

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a chromosome‐level genome assembly of Siraitia grosvenorii and, through comparative genomics, uncover a conserved UGT73 tandem array driving triterpenoid saponin diversification in Cucurbitaceae. Crystalized SgUGT73AM30 further reveals the regioselectivity mechanism underlying its catalytic activity.

Chiral‐Induced Spin Selectivity Effect in a 1 nm Thin 1,1′‐Binaphthyl‐2,2′‐diyl Hydrogenphosphate Self‐Assembled Monolayer on Nickel Oxide

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A self‐assembled monolayer (≈0.9 nm) of an axially chiral binaphthol phosphoric acid derivative on a ferromagnetic Ni/NiOx substrate shows chiral‐induced spin selectivity (CISS) magnetoresistance of 50%–80%. This thermally and chemically robust functional stack shows the way towards practical spintronic devices based on the CISS effect.

Conceptualising quality early childhood education: Learning from young children in Brazil and South Africa through creative and play‐based methods

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Early childhood has increasingly been acknowledged as a vital time for all children. Inclusive and quality education is part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with the further specification that all children have access to quality pre‐primary education.

A Surprise in the Past: The Historical Origins of the Catalan go-past

open access: yesCatalan Journal of Linguistics, 2022
Crosslinguistically, the development of the verb go into a future tense is a common path of grammaticalization. In contrast, the past meaning of the go-periphrasis in Catalan is unexpected.

Foreground segmentation based on selective foreground model

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2008
Foreground segmentation often fails when the background and foreground exhibit similar colour distributions. In this reported work, the general foreground model as a set of latest sequential segmentations is challenged, and it is asserted that the latest samples are not always best suited for foreground modelling.

Emerging Memory and Device Technologies for Hardware‐Accelerated Model Training and Inference

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
This review investigates the suitability of various emerging memory technologies as compute‐in‐memory hardware for artificial intelligence (AI) applications. Distinct requirements for training‐ and inference‐centric computing are discussed, spanning device physics, materials, and system integration.

Foregrounding through Lexical Deviation: A Corpus-Based Analysis of Yousafi’s Aab-e-Gum

open access: yesCorporum, 2021
This paper provides a corpus-based analysis of lexical deviation as a foregrounding technique in Yousafi’s prose fiction Aab-e-Gum. The use of unusual and uncommon language imparts a strong impression on the readers’ minds.

People Counting and Positioning Using Low‐Resolution Infrared Images for FeFET‐Based In‐Memory Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, low‐resolution infrared imaging is combined with a 28 nm FeFET IMC architecture to enable compact, energy‐efficient edge inference. MLC FeFET devices are experimentally characterized, and controlled multi‐level current accumulation is validated at crossbar array level.
