Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Multimodal Soft Surgical Robots Enabled by Eco‐Degradable, Sterilizable Polymers and Transient Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A compostable PGS soft surgical robot with interchangeable modules integrates transient Mo tactile and Si thermal sensors for dual feedback. The device preserves its function after clinical‐grade sterilization, demonstrates stable actuation and cardiac tissue grasping with real‐time in vivo pulsatile monitoring, and biodegrades post‐use with soil‐safe,

Engineering Pendant Group Chemistry to Control Hydrophilicity and Oxidative Degradation of Thioketal‐Based Biomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thioketal (TK) polymers are promising biomaterials due to their selective biodegradation by reactive oxygen species (ROS), but they respond slowly to physiologic doses of ROS. Here, the TK bond's pendant groups are modified to enhance the degradation of TK‐based implants both in vitro and in vivo.

Foreign body reaction in-vivo.

open access: yes, 2022
A (H&E) and b (EvG) display overview images of the spinal cord, which can be partitioned into three morphological sections. The foreign-body granuloma (b—arrow) and the migration of fibroblasts (b–arrowhead) are visible in b.

Retained rubber foreign body mimicking mid foot multi focal osteomyelitis – A case report

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Reports, 2022
Background: Retained rubber foreign bodies following penetrative foot trauma are rare. The subsequent tissue reaction that develops in response to encapsulating it results in a foreign body granuloma, which clinically and radiologically mimics various ...

A mathematical model for foreign body reactions in 2D [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computer Mathematics, 2011
The foreign body reactions are commonly referred to the network of immune and inflammatory reactions of human or animals to foreign objects placed in tissues. They are basic biological processes, and are also highly relevant to bioengineering applications in implants, as fibrotic tissue formations surrounding medical implants have been found to ...
