FOREIGN ENCLAVES, INFORMAL SECTOR AND URBAN UNEMPLOYMENT-A THEORETICAL ANALYSIS [PDF]

open access: yes
:- We consider a small open Harris-Todaro economy with a rural foreign enclave and urban informal sector. We introduce consumption- efficiency relation to explain the simultaneous existence of informal sector and urban unemployment.

Superatom Distortion Induces Triferroicity and Spin Splitting in Two‐Dimensional Antiferromagnets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The incorporation of superatoms into a 2D square lattice induces symmetry breaking, thereby enabling concurrent coupling among magnetism, ferroelectricity, and ferroelasticity. This strategy achieves triferroic behavior—characterized by spin‐split antiferromagnetic ground states—and offers a viable pathway toward energy‐efficient spintronic devices ...

Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...

Fair Wage Hypothesis, Foreign Capital Inflow and Skilled-unskilled Wage Inequality in the Presence of Agricultural Dualism [PDF]

open access: yes
The paper develops a four-sector general equilibrium model where the fair wage hypothesis is valid and there is agricultural dualism for analyzing the consequence of an inflow of foreign capital on the skilled-unskilled wage inequality and the ...

Friend, Not Foe: Lowered Tissue Reactivity to Long‐Term Polyimide Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The choice of optimal neural probe designs remains a major challenge in the field of neurotechnology. This study investigated the biocompatibility of several probe variations, including material, thickness, width, and implantation strategy. It highlights the clear advantage of soft polyimide probes over stiff silicon probes for better device ...

THE ROLE OF FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT IN THE FIRM SELECTION PROCESS IN A HOST COUNTRY: EVIDENCE FROM SLOVENIA [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper examines the role of inward foreign direct investment (FDI) in firm selection processes in the Slovenian manufacturing sector in the 1994-2003 period by assessing the impact of the entry and presence of foreign firms on a domestic firm’s ...

Tailored Stereo‐Configuration of Crosslinkable Polyester‐Based Solid Polymer Electrolytes for All‐Solid‐State and Binder‐Free Li Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Variations in polymer conformations of unsaturated poly(n‐alkyl esters) driven by monomer‐level stereochemistry directly govern Li+ solvation structures in polymer host matrices. The synergistic strategies of polymer conformation control, UV‐induced interchain crosslinking, and end‐group fluorination are implemented for engineering advanced solid ...

Simultaneous Wastewater‐to‐Hydrogen Upgrading via Mechanically Driven Piezocatalysis Over Ag‐ZnO Nanorods

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A piezocatalytic strategy enables simultaneous wastewater purification and hydrogen generation by harnessing mechanical energy. Complementary piezo‐induced charges are selectively directed toward oxidation and reduction pathways, achieving efficient pollutant degradation and continuous H2 evolution.
