Decision Analysis in Forensic Science
Journal of Forensic Sciences, 2005Abstract Forensic scientists are routinely faced with the problems of making decisions under circumstances of uncertainty (i.e., to perform or not perform a test). A decision making model in forensic science is proposed, illustrated with an example from the field of forensic genetics.

Accidental explosions have resulted from numerous sources, including fuel/air mixtures, reactive chemicals, combustible dusts, bursting pressure vessels, and high explosives. These impulsive events call for specialized forensic analysis methodologies because the damaging loads exist for only short durations, making conventional static analysis ...

Automatic systems for the analysis of textual information are highly relevant for the sake of developing completely autonomous assessment and authentication mechanisms in online learning scenarios. Since written texts within e-learning systems are mostly associated with exams and evaluations, it is critical to authenticate the identity of participants.
