Tracing the geographic origin of Atlantic cod products using stable isotope analysis

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, EarlyView.
Rationale Increasing demand for fish and seafood means that the traceability of marine products is becoming ever more important for consumers, producers and regulators. Highly complex and globalised supply networks create challenges for verifying a stated catch region.

Optical Constants and Electron Inelastic Mean‐Free Paths of SiO2, HfO2 and CaF2 Extracted From Reflection Electron Energy Loss Spectra

open access: yesSurface and Interface Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Reflection electron energy loss spectroscopy (REELS) spectra were measured for three inorganic compounds (SiO2, HfO2 and CaF2). VIS‐XUV optical constants were extracted from the measured REELS spectra after elimination of multiple inelastic scattering by deconvolution.

Deriving Stable Peak Models to Fit Complex XPS Data From Cu Contaminated Pt Electrocatalysts

open access: yesSurface and Interface Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT X‐ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy spectra peak models, designed to partition photoemission signals emanating from different elements or chemical states within an atom, are fitted to data limited to an energy interval over which inelastically scattered photoemission signal can be estimated.
