Macroscopic, Histological and Ultrastructural Features of the Tongue of the Anatolian Wild Boar (Sus scrofa libycus)

open access: yesMicroscopy Research and Technique, EarlyView.
Integrated macroscopic, histological, and ultrastructural analyses revealed five distinct lingual papillae types (filiform, fungiform, conical, foliate, and vallate) in the Anatolian wild boar (Sus scrofa libycus). Mechanical papillae showed marked structural specialization, while gustatory papillae exhibited region‐specific distribution of taste buds.

Patient and hospitalization differences in incarcerated versus nonincarcerated men: Insights from a 10‐year cohort study

open access: yesJournal of Hospital Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The incarcerated population in the United States is underserved and aging rapidly; there is a dearth of information regarding their health, including hospital care. Epidemiological information is crucial to guide policymakers’ planning.

Strain Imaging of GaAs by Stimulated Raman Scattering Microscopy

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Telecom‐wavelength stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) microscopy is developed for high‐throughput, nondestructive characterization of gallium arsenide (GaAs). By overcoming optical absorption limits of conventional Raman systems, this technique enables precise visualization of LO phonon frequency variations (< 0.2‐cm−1$$ {}^{-1} $$ precision).

Inter‐Theta‐Gram Spectroscopy: A General Super‐Spectral‐Resolution Scattering Method Demonstrated on Diamond

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Inter‐Theta‐Gram spectroscopy enables super‐spectral‐resolution Raman analysis by jointly reconstructing the excitation laser line and Raman peak during an etalon angle scan, yielding internally referenced Raman shifts. Demonstrated on lab‐grown versus natural diamond, it resolves 0.1–0.2 cm−1 Raman‐shift offsets that are invisible in conventional ...

Reidite Formation From Zircon Subjected to 20, 40, and 60 GPa Shock Experiments

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Structure disordering as a result of shock pressure: In zircon shocked from 20 to 60 GPa, the shock‐induced structural disorder increases with increasing shock pressure (gray area). Shock disorder of zircon is an integral part of its transformation to reidite: Reidite occurs after amorphous material.

Detecting Antibiotic Resistance in Strains of Selected Gram‐Negative Bacterial Species Using Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Raman spectroscopy successfully identified antibiotic‐resistant Gram‐negative strains. Resistant strains of four bacterial species were discriminated from sensitive ones with 99.1% accuracy using PLS regression. The method allows for rapid, label‐free detection of antibiotic resistance.

Hybrid Quatsome‐Encapsulated Silver Nanoparticles as Stable Plasmonic Substrates for Surface‐Enhanced Raman Scattering

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
In this work, silver nanoparticles encapsulated within quatsome membranes have shown to preserve their plasmonic properties for at least 165 days without aggregation. These hybrid nanostructures enable strong SERS enhancement of pyrene and Prodan by confining the molecules within a few nanometers from the silver surface.
