ABSTRACT Background Brain development is altered in neonates with congenital heart disease (CHD), with well‐characterised reductions in regional brain volumes and enlargement of CSF spaces. However, perioperative morphological changes remain incompletely understood. Purpose To identify brain regions showing spatial patterns of coordinated expansion and

Perspectives of High‐Resolution Mass Spectrometry in Soil Science
ABSTRACT Soil biogeochemical research requires specific, sensitive, and accurate methods to identify and quantify organic molecules in order to trace biochemical processes and assess element cycling in complex, heterogenous systems. High‐resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) has evolved into a transformative tool for unraveling the complex chemical ...

Common‐mode rejection (CMR) is introduced as a physics‐motivated preprocessing method for shifted excitation Raman difference spectroscopy (SERDS) that removes the shared background of paired measurements while preserving the noncommon excitation‐dependent component. Applied to more than 900 North American soil samples, CMR improves soil organic carbon

This study addresses calibration drift in Raman spectroscopy by transforming 1D spectra into 2D spider plot images processed by pretrained convolutional neural networks. This visualization strategy effectively converts detrimental spectral wavenumber shifts into simple image rotations, allowing the deep learning model to maintain high classification ...

We present the Carbonate Raman Processing and Plotting tool (CaRPP), designed to perform peak‐fitting and visualization on two‐dimensional Raman maps of calcium carbonate specimens. Users begin by providing a raw Raman data file and then interactively use the application to perform peak‐fitting, masking, and 2‐D image generation.

Evolution of Pigments in Artificially Aged Polyethylene Plastics: A Raman Study
The evolution of specific pigments included in plastics exposed to UVA is studied using Raman spectroscopy. This approach is applicable to both organic and inorganic pigments and is facilitated by resonance mechanisms. ABSTRACT The degradation mechanisms of polymers under UV exposure and the evolution of additives are a major concern due to their ...

Calibration models were trained using single‐compound Raman spectra of ethanol and glucose, and then transferred to bioprocess spectra. Preprocessing, optimized to meet a multimetric quality framework, enabled this transfer whilst preserving the characteristic bands and the chemical interpretability of the models.

We apply a sharp silicon tip, typically used for atomic force microscopy (AFM), as a nanoscale probe, and collect frequency‐shifted photons resulting from Raman scattering within the sharp tip. This approach allows us to map local electromagnetic fields in various plasmonic structures and study field “hotspots” with nanometer spatial resolution ...
