MMS observations of wave activity in the particle foreshock bubble foreshock region
2020<p>Foreshock bubbles (FBs) are kinetic transient phenomena formed due to the interaction between IMF discontinuities and backstreaming energetic ions in Earth&#8217;s foreshock region. FBs can be driven by both rotational discontinuities and tangential discontinuities and are typically observed under higher solar wind ...

Properties of the whistler precursor upstream of the foreshock bubble shock: MMS observations
2021<p>Foreshock bubbles (FBs) are kinetic phenomena that can form when a rotational discontinuity or a tangential discontinuity interacts with backstreaming ions in the Earth&#8217;s foreshock region. The scale of FBs can be up to 10 RE and the expansion speeds can be more than 100 km/s.

A rotational discontinuity can generate both a foreshock bubble and a hot flow anomaly
Solar wind directional discontinuities can generate transient mesoscale structures upstream of Earth's bow shock, which can have a global impact on the near-Earth environment. Understanding the formation conditions of these transient structures is crucial to evaluate their contribution to solar wind-magnetosphere coupling. Hot flow anomalies (HFAs) areLucile Turc +17 more

Foreshock bubbles can modify their solar wind discontinuities enabling secondary transients to form
Solar wind directional discontinuities can generate transient mesoscale structures such as foreshock bubbles and hot flow anomalies (HFAs) upstream of Earth's bow shock. These structures can have a global impact on the near-Earth environment, and understanding their formation conditions is crucial to evaluate their contribution to solar wind ...Lucile Turc +11 more
