The dysfunctional foreskin

International Journal of STD and AIDS, 2001
Although important, the foreskin is not absolutely essential to penile function. Dysfunction is common and a cause of considerable morbidity, and is sometimes associated with mortality from squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Penile dermatoses herald, complicate or cause preputial dysfunction.

The Foreskin Saga

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1971

Zipper Injury of the Foreskin

Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1982
With the increasing number of newborn boys not being circumcised, there will be an increasing number of foreskins at risk for entrapment by zippers. Boys often unzip, void, and zip up as fast as possible. Attempts to extract the entrapped skin by moving the zipper are usually unsuccessful and often increase the degree of entrapment.

To evaluate this observation an artificial introitus was mounted on a scales. Repeated measurements showed a 10-fold reduction of force on entry with an initially unretracted foreskin as ...

Further to “the further fate of the foreskin”: Update on the natural history of the foreskin

Medical Journal of Australia, 1994
The fortunate foreskin of an infant boy will usually be left well alone by everyone but its owner. Problems such as phimosis are not common, and can usually be treated medically without resort to circumcision.
