Ratio of photosynthetically active radiation to global solar radiation above forest canopy in complex terrain: measurements and analyses based on Qingyuan Ker Towers

open access: yesEcological Processes
Background Understanding of the ratio of photosynthetic photon flux density (Q p ) to global solar radiation (R s ) (Q p /R s ) is crucial for applying R s to ecology-related studies.

Efficient measurements of basal area in short rotation forests based on terrestrial laser scanning under special consideration of shadowing

open access: yesiForest - Biogeosciences and Forestry, 2014
Terrestrial laser scanning has been used in forest research for about ten years and use-orientated applications are of increasing importance. The effect of shadowing in single location laser scanning, e.g., as used for biomass estimations, has not been ...

Effect Differences of Omega‐3 Fatty Acids From Plant Oil and Fish Oil on Human Health

open access: yesAgriFood: Journal of Agricultural Products for Food, EarlyView.
Omega‐3 fatty acids in plant oil is no less than fish oil on human health. ALA in plant oil takes directly healthy effects without conversion to DHA and EPA. Plant oil can be substitutes for fish oil to support partial ω‐3 fatty acids. For people who cannot afford fish oil, plant oil is also good for public health.

Do outgrower schemes enhance technology adoption and productivity? Evidence from maize farmers in Northern Ghana

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
Abstract Nucleus outgrower schemes are contractual arrangements where well‐resourced large‐scale farmers (nucleus farmers) are empowered by development support agencies to take charge of smallholder farmers, by providing them with market access and the necessary training on agronomic practices and farm inputs for production.

Assessing Agricultural Green Total Factor Productivity in Latin America

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The agricultural sector in Latin America plays a vital role in ensuring food security while impacting the environment. However, there remains a lack of analysis regarding the inputs responsible for pollution within its sub‐technologies. Hence, this article aims to assess agricultural green total factor productivity (TFP) through a novel ...
