Prediction model for the pressing process in an innovative forming joints technology for woodworking [PDF]
To improve the efficiency of the joints formation, a new method of pressing in the longitudinal direction is proposed. This paper presents a predictive model for the pressing force depending on the state of the wood and the parameters of the pressed ...

DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

This study presents a versatile approach to harnessing miscible aqueous domains, enabling liquid‐in‐liquid compartmentalization using a barrier formed in situ rather than bulk immiscibility. The barrier forms upon the complexation of multifunctional nanoparticles and ligands at the contact boundary of aqueous phases.

Aspects of automation of selective cleaning [PDF]
Cleaning (pre-commercial thinning) is a silvicultural operation, primarily used to improve growing conditions of remaining trees in young stands (ca. 3 - 5 m of height). Cleaning costs are considered high in Sweden and the work is laborious.

Wild ungulates as forest engineers
Earth’s surface is changing rapidly due to anthropogenic disturbance and thus threatening the conservation of entire biomes: from deserts to tropical rainforests and from oceans to mountains. Within this spectrum, forests are one of the biomes which has suffered the most due to the exploitation of natural resources and the expansion of the urban ...
