Harvesting systems for steep terrain in the Italian Alps: state of the art and future prospects [PDF]
Steep slope forest operations in Central Europe and in particular in the Alps are strongly related to the adoption of the cable-based harvesting system, even if innovative ground-based harvesting system, even if innovative ground-based harvesting systems

New tools for engineering tomorrow's forests [PDF]
It is difficult to overstate the role of wood in the story of humanity. In times that predate recorded history it provided shelter from the elements, light and warmth when burned, and a supple material with which early humans could craft their first tools.

Machine Learning Techniques for Stellar Light Curve Classification [PDF]
We apply machine learning techniques in an attempt to predict and classify stellar properties from noisy and sparse time series data. We preprocessed over 94 GB of Kepler light curves from MAST to classify according to ten distinct physical properties ...

Comparison of energy-wood and pulpwood thinning systems in young birch stands [PDF]
In early thinnings, a profitable alternative to pulpwood could be to harvest whole trees as energy-wood. In theoretical analyses, we compared the extractible volumes of energy-wood and pulpwood, and their respective gross values in differently aged ...

We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

A novel improved model for building energy consumption prediction based on model integration [PDF]
Building energy consumption prediction plays an irreplaceable role in energy planning, management, and conservation. Constantly improving the performance of prediction models is the key to ensuring the efficient operation of energy systems.
