Maximum entropy-based forest fire likelihood mapping: analysing the trends, distribution, and drivers of forest fires in Sikkim Himalaya

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Forest Research, 2021
The recent episodes of forest fires in Brazil and Australia of 2019 are tragic reminders of the hazards of forest fire. Globally incidents of forest fire events are on the rise due to human encroachment into the wilderness and climate change. Sikkim with

Reproduction of Smaller Wildfire Perimeters Observed by Polar-Orbiting Satellites Using ROS Adjustment Factors and Wildfire Spread Simulators

open access: yesRemote Sensing
While geostationary satellites can provide continuous near-real-time observations, their low spatial resolution makes it difficult to detect small wildfires.

Forest fire spreading and carbon concentration identification in tropical region Indonesia

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2021
Global warming impacted the rise of temperature globally, some of the places a high risk of fire such as land and forest fire. Many efforts to prevent the occurrence of land and forest fire, but some methods are not achieved in optimum results.

Parallel SVM model for forest fire prediction

open access: yes, 2021
Forest fire is considered as one of the main cause of the environmental hazard that provides many negative effects. Effective Forest Fire prediction models help to take the necessary steps to prevent forest fire and its negative effects. Existing methods

Development of Sustainable MgO–C Refractories Using MgO–C Recyclates and a Novel Eco‐Friendly Fructose–Tannin Binder Crosslinked With Citric Acid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops sustainable MgO–C refractories using recycled materials and eco‐friendly fructose–tannin binders. The enhanced performance of citric acid as a cross‐linker and functional additives on mechanical and thermomechanical properties was examined. Characterization included strength tests, immersion trials, and microstructural and inclusion

An Experimental Study of Intermittent Heating Frequencies From Wind-Driven Flames

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
An experimental study was conducted to understand the intermittent heating behavior downstream of a gaseous line burner under forced flow conditions. While previous studies have addressed time-averaged properties, here measurements of the flame location ...

Silicified Wood‐Inspired, High‐Strength Fire‐Resistant Chitin‐Based Aerogels for Sustainable High‐Temperature Thermal Insulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by natural silicified wood, a biomimetic mineralized chitin‐derived aerogel is constructed. It can withstand 81 000 times its own weight, and its backside temperature is 130.4°C after exposure to ∼1300°C butane flame for 600 s, exhibiting high‐strength, fire‐resistance, and super thermal‐insulation properties.

Unveiling the Role of Curvature in Carbon for Improved Energy Release of Ammonium Perchlorate

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
High‐curvature carbon materials identified via machine learning and simulation can enhance the heat release and combustion performance of ammonium perchlorate. ABSTRACT The catalytic role of carbon curvature in the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) remains largely unexplored. To address this gap, this study employs machine learning and
