Global fire emissions and the contribution of deforestation, savanna, forest, agricultural, and peat fires (1997-2009)

open access: yes, 2010
. New burned area datasets and top-down constraints from atmospheric concentration measurements of pyrogenic gases have decreased the large uncertainty in fire emissions estimates. However, significant gaps remain in our understanding of the contribution

Record-high CO2 emissions from boreal fires in 2021

open access: yesScience, 2023
Extreme wildfires are becoming more common and increasingly affecting Earth’s climate. Wildfires in boreal forests have attracted much less attention than those in tropical forests, although boreal forests are one of the most extensive biomes on Earth ...

Designing Asymmetric Memristive Behavior in Proton Mixed Conductors for Neuromorphic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Protonic devices that couple ionic and electronic transport are demonstrated as bioinspired neuromorphic elements. The devices exhibit rubber‐like asymmetric memristive behavior with slow voltage‐driven conductance increase and rapid relaxation, enabling simplified read–write operation.

Forest Defender Fusion System for Early Detection of Forest Fires

open access: yesComputers
In the past ten years, rates of forest fires around the world have increased significantly. Forest fires greatly affect the ecosystem by damaging vegetation. Forest fires are caused by several causes, including both human and natural causes. Human causes

Research on the influencing factors and prevention measures of long-term forest fire risk in Northeast China

open access: yesEcological Indicators, 2023
Forest fires damage ecological environment and increase carbon emissions. To reduce the adverse effects of fire on forests, the long-term (2002–2022) fires data were analyzed in the Great Xing'an Mountains region of Northeast China.

Forest Fire Damage in Natura 2000 sites 2000-2012 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Forest fires are a threat for the forest and natural areas in Europe. Over 65 000 fires take place every year in the European Union, burning, on average, half a million hectares of the European landscape.
