Forest fragmentation and avian nest predation in forested landscapes
Oecologia, 1988The size of forest fragments, the use of land bordering fragments, and the distance of nests from an edge all affect the frequency of predation upon bird nests in Maine (USA), an area where the forest has been fragmented by roads, but not significantly reduced in area.

Climbers in forest fragments in Togo.
2005AbstractTogo is located in the Dahomey Gap which separates the West African tropical moist forest from that of Central Africa. Farmland, fallow lands and savannahs essentially characterize the predominantly open landscape. In forest fragments in southern Togo, climbing plants represent one third of the total number of species.

Fragmentation regimes of Canada's forests
Canadian Geographies / Géographies canadiennes, 2011Canada is a large nation, approximately 1 billion hectares in size, and until recently, no national assessment of forest fragmentation had been undertaken. To assess national level biodiversity and ecosystem condition, national drivers of forest fragmentation are identified as being either primarily natural (e.g., resulting from wildfires, water ...

What becomes of fragmented forests?
Science, 2020Ecology Understanding how tropical forests are changing in structure and extent over time is essential to protecting these habitats. Hansen et al. incorporated fragmentation metrics with spatially explicit forest loss data to paint a complete picture for local communities to use in forest fragmentation monitoring.
