Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Spatial Optimization in Forest Planning Using Different Fragmentation Measures
Habitat fragmentation is a key biodiversity issue in forest planning at the landscape level. More consideration is needed in assessing the choice of the landscape index in spatial forest planning optimizations. The objective of this study was to evaluate

DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

A Subcontinental Analysis of Forest Fragmentation Effects on Insect and Disease Invasion
The influences of human and physical factors on species invasions have been extensively examined by ecologists across many regions. However, how habitat fragmentation per se may affect forest insect and disease invasion has not been well studied ...

Use of Road Maps in National Assessments of Forest Fragmentation in the United States
The question of incorporating road maps into U.S. national assessments of forest fragmentation has been a contentious issue, but there has not been a comparative national analysis to inform the debate.

Deforestation-Induced Fragmentation Increases Forest Fire Occurrence in Central Brazilian Amazonia
Amazonia is home to more than half of the world’s remaining tropical forests, playing a key role as reservoirs of carbon and biodiversity. However, whether at a slower or faster pace, continued deforestation causes forest fragmentation in this ...
