Improved Model-Based Forest Height Inversion Using Airborne L-Band Repeat-Pass Dual-Baseline Pol-InSAR Data

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022

Forest biomass change estimated from height change in interferometric SAR height models [PDF]

open access: yesCarbon Balance and Management, 2014
There is a need for new satellite remote sensing methods for monitoring tropical forest carbon stocks. Advanced RADAR instruments on board satellites can contribute with novel methods. RADARs can see through clouds, and furthermore, by applying stereo RADAR imaging we can measure forest height and its changes.

Evaluating Variable Selection and Machine Learning Algorithms for Estimating Forest Heights by Combining Lidar and Hyperspectral Data

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2020
Machine learning has been employed for various mapping and modeling tasks using input variables from different sources of remote sensing data. For feature selection involving high- spatial and spectral dimensionality data, various methods have been ...

Factorization forests of finite height

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 1990
We introduce factorization forests. It is shown that the vertex set of a dense factorization forest of finite height satisfies a bounded gap Ramsey-type property of words. The main result is that every morphism from a free semigroup to a finite semigroup S admits a Ramseyan factorization forest of height at most \(9| S|\).

Investigation the Effect of the Forest Height and Forest Density on the Accuracy of Forest Height Estimation Methods Using PolInSAR Data [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم، فناوری و کاربردهای فضایی, 2022
Forest biomass is one of the most important parameters in the ecosystem changes assessment and global carbon cycle modelling. In the other hand, the forest height is an effective parameter in the allometric equations which are used for biomass estimation.

An Improved Forest Height Model Using L-Band Single-Baseline Polarimetric InSAR Data for Various Forest Densities

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Forest density affects the inversion of forest height by influencing the penetration and attenuation of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) signals. Traditional forest height inversion methods often fail in low-density forest areas.

A Modified Dual-Baseline PolInSAR Method for Forest Height Estimation

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2017
This paper investigates the potentials and limitations of a simple dual-baseline PolInSAR (DBPI) method for forest height inversion. This DBPI method follows the classical three-stage inversion method’s idea used in single baseline PolInSAR (SBPI ...

Abiotic controls on macroscale variations of humid tropical forest height [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Spatial variation of tropical forest tree height is a key indicator of ecological processes associated with forest growth and carbon dynamics. Here we examine the macroscale variations of tree height of humid tropical forests across three continents and ...

Ice storm effects on the canopy structure of a northern hardwood forest after 8 years [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Ice storms can cause severe damage to forest canopies, resulting in differential mortality among tree species and size classes and leading to long-lasting changes in the vertical structure and composition of the forest.

Estimation of change in forest height growth [PDF]

open access: yesForestry Studies, 2017
Abstract Forest height increment rate is related to the forest growth conditions. Data bases of previous forest inventories contain information about forest heightage relationship on large number of forest stands while repeated measurements of permanent sample plots provide an excellent reference for comparison.
