ENSURING FOREST FIRES MONITORING

PHYSICAL BASIS OF SCIENCE-INTENSIVE TECHNOLOGIES IN THE MODERN WORLD : Proceedings of the All-Russian Scientific and Methodological Conference with International Participation, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of Professor V.V. Postnikov, timed to the 95th anniversary of VSUFT named after G.F. Morozov
The problem of monitoring natural fires is considered. The use of the possibilities of remote sensing of the earth, aerial photography and unmanned aerial vehicles is discussed. An assessment is made of the feasibility of using unmanned vehicles of various classes to solve strategic and tactical problems.

Forest monitoring: Substantiating cause-effect relationships

Science of The Total Environment, 2019
Monitoring of forest condition and tree performance is a long-term activity to provide data, substantiated cause-effects relationships and conclusions for environmental policies and forest management. Within this context the concept of tree and forest health, selection of response and predictor variables and challenges during statistical analyses are ...

Microwave Remote Sensing for Forest Monitoring Purposes

[Proceedings] IGARSS'91 Remote Sensing: Global Monitoring for Earth Management, 2005
AVAILABLE DATA A multitemporal set of fully calibrated X- and C-band airborne radar data, from a deciduous forest site, was analysed. The study aimed to evaluate the capacities of imaging shortwave radar systems for forest monitoring studies and to develop a method for the analysis of a timeseries of radar images.

Monitoring of Forest Dynamics

1989
Tens of years or even centuries of observation are necessary to detect forest dynamics as expressed by architecture and tree species composition (Chap. 7). However, fast initial changes in structure and species composition can be exemplified in young, spontaneous willow stands in Zuidelijk Flevoland, a polder reclaimed in 1968 (The Netherlands).
