Lagging recovery for tropical forests

Science, 2020
Ecology Tropical forest aboveground carbon (AGC) stocks have yet to recover from the extremely hot and dry weather associated with the 2015–2016 El Nino event. Wigneron et al. used low-frequency microwave satellite data to monitor AGC changes from 2014 to 2017.

Recovery from acidification in Swedish forest streams

Environmental Pollution, 2002
Sulphur deposition in Sweden has decreased to less than half of the levels recorded in 1970 and now signs of recovery from acidification of surface waters are beginning to appear. We investigated time trends of water chemistry between 1985 and 1998 in 13 streams draining small forested catchments with generally shallow acid sensitive soils.

Recovery of Residual Forest Biomass

1989
Timber harvesting operations may be classified according to their silvicultural goal and treatment. In thinnings primarily low-quality trees are removed from an immature stand to maintain or stimulate growth of high-quality trees. In precommercial thinnings the timber is left in the forest because of its small size.

Roots of marine forest recovery

Marine forests encompass a wide range of ecosystems, from macroalgal beds to seagrass meadows and coral reefs. They play critical roles in shaping both population and community dynamics of the biodiversity they support. However, due to several threats such as overgrazing, the introduction of non-indigenous species and climate change, marine forests at ...

Value recovery in Maramarua Forest.

2011
Accurate pre-harvest inventory data is essential for planning forest operations; optimising recovery at the skid is an important process in maximising profitability. This study looked at the accuracy of pre-harvest inventory estimates of value and volume and compared them with actual and optimal recovery at the skid site in Maramarua Forest, Waikato ...

Recovery of Central Appalachian Forested Watersheds

2014
The Fernow Experimental Forest (FEF) was established to conduct research in forest and watershed management in the central Appalachians. The 1868-ha FEF, located south of Parsons, West Virginia, is administered by the Northern Research Station of the USDA Forest Service and provides a valuable point of comparison with the Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory (
