Planning and Assessment of Alternative Forest Road and Skidding Networks
Road construction and harvesting operation have always been the two most expensive activities in forestry. The aim of this paper is to define a method to evaluate the forest road network variants. For this purpose,, the forest was sampled with the use of

Optimization of an existing forest road network using Network 2000
Optimization of forest road network is an important part of logging planning. Matthews (1942) was the first to introduce a method for optimization of road spacing based on minimization of roading and skidding cost.

Assessment of forest road network alternatives in forest harvesting activity
Abstract One of timber harvesting purposes is moving wood from the forest to sawmills. Road network planning requires consideration for alternatives. This paper purposed to determine decision-making in the selection of alternative road networks with utility analysis by considering economic, ecological, and social criteria.

Challenges in Forest Road Maintenance in North America
Maintenance is a key component of managing a forest road network. Forest road networks in North America are managed to provide economic access to forest resources while minimizing the environmental impacts of those roads.

Optimization of a forest road network.
A new planning model was developed that does not specify parallel road networks as in existing models (e.g. Larsson's). The new model, based on the 'travelling salesman' algorithm, consists of 2 complementary models for flat and broken terrain which are reproduced in the synopsis together with Larsson's model.

Road network designing in a forested watershed using network connectivity indices
Designing and constructing a road network is one of the most critical steps of the development process in managing natural resources. The current research is going to investigate the application of network connectivity indices to the analysis of road networks in the forested watershed.
