Master\u27s Project: Assessing Unpaved Road Runoff in the Mad River Watershed of Central Vermont [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Over half of the local town roads in Vermont are unpaved (VBB, 2009). In the Mad River Watershed of central Vermont, 58% of the roads are unpaved. These compacted surfaces, despite their lack of tar, provide hundreds of miles of impermeable surfaces that

Substituent‐Based Modulation of Self‐Assembly and Immunogenicity of Amphipathic Peptides

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study systematically investigates how positional and subtle changes, such as substituents on the phenyl ring attached to short amphipathic peptides, influence their self‐assembly, fibril morphology, and immunogenic responses. ABSTRACT Self‐assembled peptide‐based biomaterials provide versatile platforms for biomedical uses, featuring customizable ...

Ce‐Doped Lignin‐Based Nanozyme with Heat‐Activated Hydrolase Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel Ce‐doped lignin‐based hydrolase nanozyme (Ce‐AL) is synthesized using Ce ions coordinated with aminated industrial lignin. The Ce‐AL effectively hydrolyzes phosphate ester bonds and protein amide bonds, maintain high activity at 100°C, and successfully fights bacteria biofilms.

Forest road planning considering road and skidding costs (Case study: Kheyrud Forest)

open access: yesمجله جنگل ایران, 2011
Hyrcanian forests are the only forests designated for commercial timber production inIran. Ground-based skidding is the most common timber harvesting system used in these forests, but due to low road density (1-2m/ha), large parts of the forests are still inaccessible.

3D‐Printed Architected Anisotropic Channels for Ultrafast Solar‐Driven Interfacial Evaporation via Localized Thermal Management and Water Layer Structuring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed anisotropic channel evaporator integrates directional geometry with aligned titanium oxide, boron nitride, and chitosan networks to coordinate photon absorption, heat localization, and water transport. Phonon‐guided thermal pathways and interfacial water structuring enable ultrahigh evaporation rates and long‐term salt‐resistant solar ...

Recent Advances in Laser‐Induced Graphene‐Based Gas Sensors: From Sensing Mechanisms to Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laser‐induced graphene (LIG) provides a scalable, laser‐direct‐written route to porous graphene architecture with tunable chemistry and defect density. Through heterojunction engineering, catalytic functionalization, and intrinsic self‐heating, LIG achieves highly sensitive and selective detection of NOX, NH3, H2, and humidity, supporting next ...

Predicting the roadway width of forest roads by means of airborne laser scanning

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Earth Observations and Geoinformation
Modern forestry relies on an extensive network of well-maintained forest roads. However, the trafficability of forest roads can be limited by poor construction or by insufficient load-bearing capacity caused by, for example, weather conditions.
