Intensified Manufactured Non‐Belonging: Working Holiday Makers in Australia During the COVID‐19 Pandemic

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nations manufacture non‐belonging of temporary migrants through policy frameworks that produce exclusion. This precarity maximises the economic benefit of temporary migrant labour by minimising their political, social and legal rights. In this paper, we examine how non‐belonging targeting Working Holiday Makers (WHMs) is manufactured in ...

Ring‐Retentive Allylation of Cyclopropanols Through Interception of Enolized Homoenolates by π‐Allylpalladium

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Cyclopropanols undergo palladium‐catalyzed, zinc‐mediated allylation with allyl acetates: the ring opens transiently to an enolized homoenolate, is intercepted by π‐allylpalladium, and recloses to furnish β‐allylated cyclopropanols. This formal “allylic cyclopropylation” broadens the reaction space for ring‐retentive functionalization of cyclopropanols.

How Can Community Music Enhance Place‐Based Efforts to Create Greater Social Equity? Insights From an Australian Cultural Mapping Exercise

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Social inequity is increasing in Australia, often manifesting in entrenched locational disadvantage that requires place‐based responses grounded in local strengths, knowledge and participation. While community music programmes have demonstrated a range of positive social outcomes, their potential contribution to place‐based efforts addressing ...

Atroposelective Pd(0)‐Catalyzed Direct Intermolecular C─H Arylation of Thiazole N‐Oxides Provides Access to Heterobiaryls

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An enantioselective Pd(0)‐catalysed arylation at the C4‐position of thiazole N‐oxides directly forges the atropochiral heterobiaryl axis. A tailored point‐ and axially chiral monodentate phosphine ensures high reactivities along with a tight stereocontrol.

Electrocatalytic Polarity Inversion of Azlactones: Access to α‐Quaternary Amino Acids with Electron‐Rich SOMOphiles

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Electrocatalytic polarity inversion of azlactones unlocks their coupling with electron‐rich reaction partners. Triarylamine‐mediated oxidation of the azlactone enolate generates an electrophilic radical intermediate that undergoes selective C4 functionalization with diverse SOMOphiles.

Forgery on Stateless CMCC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present attacks against CMCC that invalidate the claimed security of integrity protection and misuse resistance. We exploit the fact zero-padding is used on both the message and authenticated data and demonstrate how one may generate a forgery with a ...

Aza‐Büchner–Curtius–Schlotterbeck Reaction Enables Selective Construction of Quaternary Carbon Centers

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
We introduce the Aza‐Büchner–Curtius–Schlotterbeck (ABCS) reaction: A mild, catalyst‐free method for homologating aryl imines. Diverging from the traditional BCS mechanism, the diazo intermediate undergoes selective C─C insertion to form an all‐carbon quaternary center.
