Vanadium Effect on a Medium Carbon Forging Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2016
In the present work the influence of vanadium on the hardenability and the bainitic transformation of a medium carbon steel is analyzed. While V in solid solution enhances the former, it hardly affects bainitic transformation.

Electronic Interaction at Cu–O–Ni Heterointerface Promotes Electrocatalytic Nitrate Reduction to Ammonia and Zinc‐Nitrate Battery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The strong Cu–O–Ni electronic interaction in the heterostructured catalyst can enhance the effective adsorption of NO3− and accelerate the in situ hydrolysis dissociation of the hydrogenation step. The Zn‐NO3 hybrid battery assembled with this catalyst achieves an open‐circuit voltage of 1.45 V, a peak power density of 6.47 mW cm−2, and can ...

Fluorinated Glycan Frameshifts: Automated Synthesis Expedites the Study of Glycan‐Protein Interactions by 19F‐BioNMR

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Given the prominence of 19F‐bioNMR in structural research, fluorinated glycans hold enormous potential in glycomimetic frameshift design. However, challenges associated with the stereocontrolled synthesis of these disruptive actors continue to frustrate advances. To address this, the automated synthesis of selectively C‐2 fluorinated glycans related to

Behavior of asymmetric deformation of rod in locally-lateral upsetting

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2016
In multi-stage closed die forging, an optimum shape of a preform is required to economically manufacture more complicate and precise products. This preform promotes to distribute an appropriate volume, and it helps to reduce material loss and forging ...

XOR‐Logic Phase Coding Programmable Metasurface for Low Power‐Consumption Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By leveraging XOR logic, the biasing‐network complexity of 2D programmable metasurfaces is reduced from m×n to m+n through efficient row‐column control. This enables versatile functions including beam deflection and beamforming, facilitating applications in wireless communications and beyond.

Arylhydrazines: Convenient Homogeneous Reductants for Scalable Cross‐Coupling

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Reductive cross‐couplings enable efficient C–C bond formation but are limited by the heterogeneity of Zn or costly reagents like TDAE. We report arylhydrazines as inexpensive, convenient reductants for Ni‐catalyzed sp2–sp3 coupling of aryl halides and secondary alkyl iodides. Mechanistic studies support hydrazine‐mediated NiII reduction for a NiI/NiIII

The Effect of Silicon Deficiency on Material Properties of Noduar Cast Iron [PDF]

open access: yesOUSL Journal
The brittle failure of a crankshaft was investigated. The chemical composition and material properties of the crankshaft were analyzed. The hardness profile indicated that the manufacturer used the crankshaft as cast without heat treatment.
