Forging Processes: Variables and Descriptions
2005In forging, an initially simple part—a billet, for example—is plastically deformed between two tools (or dies) to obtain the desired final configuration. Thus, a simple part geometry is transformed into a complex one, whereby the tools “store” the desired geometry and impart pressure on the deforming material through the tool/material interface ...

Forging Process Modeller — A Feasibility Study
CIRP Annals, 1990Summary The paper describes a system of programs which have been brought together to form a coherent functional modeller for use in the design of a forging process sequence. The basic elements of the system are data acquisition, data preparation, forging process plasticity analysis (UBET), die stress analysis (FEM) and solid modelling of the forging ...

Analysis of Forging Compliance Process and Design of the Forging Simulator
2010This paper presents a new simulator which has a good force capability, and the simulator can reproduce working environment of forging manipulator, by simulating force and movement. In this paper, firstly, forging compliance process of the forging manipulator DDS750 is analyzed, and there is a mechanism topological change during the process which ...

A Review of Liquid Forging Process
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Liquid forging is a new technology of plastic forming. It is a kind of bulk forming process with liquid metal with high-quality and efficiency and it has the characteristics of both die casting and forging. This paper will discuss the liquid forging process, die design, simulation and optimization of liquid forging [1].

Forging Machinery, Dies, and Processes
1998Abstract Forging machines use a wide variety of hammers, presses, and dies to produce products with the desired shape, size, and geometry. This article discusses the major types of hammers (gravity-drop, power-drop, high speed, and open-die forging), and presses (mechanical, hydraulic, screw-type, and multiple-ram).

Research into the GFM forging process
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1991Abstract A slip-line field model and its associated hodograph along with their matrix operator equations, appropriate for the GFM forging process, have been constructed. A numerical method combining slip-line field theory with the upper-bound theorem is proposed, the computation being carried out using a non-linear optimization technique.
