Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is of huge importance, resulting in over 1 million deaths each year. Here, we describe how a new drug, enmetazobactam, designed to help fight resistant bacterial diseases, inhibits a key enzyme (GES‐1) responsible for AMR. Our data show it is a more potent inhibitor than the related tazobactam, with high‐level computation

Summary In this contribution, we propose a detailed study of interpolation‐based data‐driven methods that are of relevance in the model reduction and also in the systems and control communities. The data are given by samples of the transfer function of the underlying (unknown) model, that is, we analyze frequency‐response data.

Design of an LCC current-output resonant converter for use as a constant current source [PDF]
A methodology for the design of LCC resonant current-source converters, is presented. Unlike previous techniques, the resulting converter provides near constant steady-state output current over an extended load range when excited at the resonant ...

Mutations in the C9orf72 gene represent the most common genetic cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a fatal neurodegenerative disease. Using patient‐derived neurons and C. elegans models, we find that the nucleoporin Nup107 is dysregulated in C9orf72‐associated ALS. Conversely, reducing Nup107 levels mitigates disease‐related changes.

Data‐driven performance metrics for neural network learning
Summary Effectiveness of data‐driven neural learning in terms of both local mimima trapping and convergence rate is addressed. Such issues are investigated in a case study involving the training of one‐hidden‐layer feedforward neural networks with the extended Kalman filter, which reduces the search for the optimal network parameters to a state ...

Global production networks in the aerospace industry: the role of risk and revenue sharing partnerships [PDF]
The last 30 years have seen a major trend towards the internationalisation of production. In some industry sectors this process has become global as production systems have been integrated on an inter-continental basis.

Double-logarithmic asymptotics of the electromagnetic form factors of the electron and quark [PDF]
The asymptotic behaviour of the electromagnetic form factors of the electron and quark is obtained in the double-logarithmic approximation for Sudakov kinematics, i.e. for the case that the value of the momentum transfer is much greater than the mass of the particle.

This real‐world study of ROS1+ NSCLC highlights fusion diversity, treatment outcomes with crizotinib and lorlatinib, and in vitro experiments with resistance mechanisms. G2032R drives strong resistance to ROS1‐targeted TKIs, especially lorlatinib. Fusion partner location does not affect overall survival to crizotinib or lorlatinib. Findings support the

Form factor ratio from unpolarized elastic electron-proton scattering [PDF]
A reanalysis of unpolarized electron-proton elastic scattering data is done in terms of the electric to magnetic form factor squared ratio. This observable is in principle more robust against experimental correlations and global normalizations.
