X‐ray‐induced hydride formation in palladium nanowires in a gaseous hydrogen environment
Powder diffraction is used to reveal X‐ray‐induced hydride formation in palladium nanowires in a gaseous hydrogen environment.Palladium hydrides are promising systems for hydrogen sensors and hydrogen storage, making the study of hydride formation in nanoparticles highly relevant. Lately, such studies have often been performed in situ or operando using

Distributed computing for the reconstruction of multi‐terabyte tomographic X‐ray imaging datasets
As tomographic datasets from synchrotrons continue to increase in volume, so rises the challenge of reconstructing said data. Here we present a solution utilizing high‐performance computing capabilities to split the process into multiple smaller tasks, which can be solved without overwhelming a single compute node.

Adenylate kinase was used to quantify how experimental parameters influence radiation damage during time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering (TR‐XSS) at a multipurpose SAXS beamline. The study provides general guidelines for minimizing radiation artifacts in TR‐XSS.Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering (TR‐XSS) enables tracking of protein structural ...

Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Niche partitioning is often considered an important mechanism promoting species co‐occurrence in species‐rich communities. As species richness increases, niche partitioning may lead to different niche structures, including increased packing of species niches when the ...

Demographic buffering in natural populations: A multi‐level perspective
We introduce a multi‐level framework that unites stochastic elasticities with nonlinear selection to test demographic buffering. Applying it across mammals reveals a key insight: ecological robustness to variability often decouples from evolutionary constraint, reshaping how we understand resilience under environmental stochasticity.
