Landscape and Geography Determine Saproxylic Beetle Captures in Pheromone‐Baited Traps

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Pheromone‐baited traps at 39 forest sites across southern Sweden captured 58 saproxylic beetle species, including seven Red‐listed taxa. Fungicide Non‐Target Effects Cause Reduced Sawfly Herbivory in Treated and Neighbouring Strawberry Plants

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Application of the fungicide Switch 62.5 WG in garden strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa), targeting Botrytis cinerea, reduced sawfly (Cladius spp.) herbivory by up to 94% and improved fruit quality. This non‐target effect also spilled over to neighbouring untreated plants, lowering damage by 46%.

Maternal factors from a parasitoid wasp mediate hyperparasitoid attraction to parasitized caterpillars

open access: yesEcological Entomology, EarlyView.
The parasitoid‐associated polydnavirus CgPDV, but not venom alone, significantly increases the attractiveness of Pieris brassicae caterpillars to the hyperparasitoid Baryscapus galactopus at close range. Naturally parasitized caterpillars elicit stronger hyperparasitoid attraction than any injection treatment, indicating that additional factors beyond ...
