Variability of sheet formability and formability testing

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2002
Abstract Testing of sheet metal formability has been a long-standing challenge because variability in test procedures and testing machines can mask material variations. In spite of the importance of such testing for manufacturing, few standards exist.

Superplastic Formability Testing

JOM, 1982
Incremental strain rate, constant strain rate, constant stress, and cone forming tests were systematically evaluated to determine the superplastic formability of titanium alloys. The need for characterizing the strain and time dependences of superplasticity indices and the inadequacy of incremental strain-rate tests for predicting superplastic forming ...

Formability: A review on different sheet metal tests for formability

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2020
Know-how on mechanical behaviour of sheet metal forming operations like deep drawing etc., are very much essential for quality production of articles having wide industrial and domestic applications such as automobile, beverage, aerospace and kitchenware.

Prediction of Formability

1993
The plastic deformation of a sheet metal into complicated shapes is brought about by the imposition of a combination of stresses. Complex stamping requires varying amount of stretching and drawing, to which bending and buckling are added. Traditionally, prediction of forming behaviour of materials are based on tensile test data, simulative tests and ...

Formability of ABO3 perovskites

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2004
Abstract Regularities governing perovskite formability are investigated, by using empirical structure map methods and a total of 197 binary oxide systems. Each of the 197 systems belongs to one of the three groups (A 2 O–B 2 O 5 , AO–BO 2 and A 2 O 3 –B 2 O 3 ), and among them only 121 systems have a perovskite compound.

Formability of superplastic PbSn60 alloy

Materials Letters, 2005
Abstract The forming limit diagram of superplastic PbSn60 alloy was investigated in this paper. The superplastic sheet was bulged using dies with aspect ratios of 1:1, 15:11, 5:3 and 5:2, at the constant gas pressure and at the temperature of 293 K.

Anisotropy and Formability

2007
The chapter presents synthetically the most recent models of the anisotropic plastic behavior. The first section gives an overview of the classical models, In the next step, the discussion is focused on the anisotropic formulations developed on the basis of the theories of linear transformations and tensor representations, respectively.

Formability of tailored blanks

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1997
Abstract Toyota has applied laser-welded tailored blanks for stamping side panel, door inner, front side member and many other auto body panels. Judgment on the formability in actual panel stamping is difficult, because the behavior in press forming of the portion near the weld lines differs from the base material. We have obtained by experiments the
