Formaldehyde surface emission monitor

Analytical Chemistry, 1984
A passive surface emission monitor has been developed for nondestructive measurement of formaldehyde (CH/sub 2/O) emission rates from CH/sub 2/O resin-containing materials such as urea-formaldehyde foam insulation (UFFI) and pressed-wood products. Emitted CH/sub 2/O is sorbed by a planar distribution of 13X molecular sleve supported inside the monitor ...

Formaldehyde emission from particleboard

Holz als Roh- und Werkstoff, 1981
A test method is described and experimental data are presented which compare formaldehyde emissions from edges and surfaces of particleboards. Surface emissions from boards of different structures and resins are also presented. Porosity of particleboards was measured and related to formaldehyde emission.

Production of melamine fortified urea‐formaldehyde resins with low formaldehyde emission

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2011
AbstractMelamine can be incorporated in the synthesis of urea‐formaldehyde (UF) resins to improve performance in particleboards (PB), mostly in terms of hydrolysis resistance and formaldehyde emission. In this work, melamine‐fortified UF resins were synthesized using a strong acid process.

The Analysis of the Plywood Formaldehyde-Emission Creep

2009 3rd International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering, 2009
The behavior of formaldehyde release from plywood was similar to the creep behavior of material and the liquid. So the behavior of the formaldehyde emission from plywood was modeled by the rheological theory. And the Maxwell model, Delvin model and Burger model were used to fit the creep behavior which the formaldehyde released from plywood.

Formaldehyde-free varnishing on stator core sheets to prevent formaldehyde emissions

2015 IEEE Electrical Insulation Conference (EIC), 2015
Formaldehyde has been identified as a hazardous gas and a number of European countries have set limits on the tolerated concentrations of it in working areas. Alstom tested and analyzed the standard varnishes in use for the past 20 years and compared them to newly developed varnishes.

Preparation of cured urea–formaldehyde resins of low formaldehyde emission

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1984
Several polymers containing amino or amido groups and biuret were tested as additives to ureaformaldehyde (UF) resin in order to neutralize its inherent acidity and combine free formaldehyde released upon hydrolysis of cured UF polycondensate. Each modifier was incorporated to liquid methylolureas at weight ratios of 1:100, 2:100, and 3:100 prior to ...

The Study on Formaldehyde Emission of Composite Floor and Activated Carbon Adsorption on Formaldehyde

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
The relationship between formaldehyde emission and time was researched and a mathematical model was developed which describes the variation of formaldehyde with time in the airtight chamber. It was found that high quality composite floor was in line with 0-order kinetic equation and low quality composite floor was in line with 1-order kinetic equation.

Development of melamine–formaldehyde resin microcapsules with low formaldehyde emission suited for seed treatment

Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, 2015
To reduce the application frequency and improve the efficacy of insecticides, melamine-formaldehyde (MF) resin microcapsules suited for seed treatment containing a mixture of fipronil and chlorpyrifos were prepared by in situ polymerization. A formaldehyde/melamine molar ratio of 4:1 yielded microcapsules with the smallest size and the most narrow size

Formaldehyde Emissions from Urea-Formaldehyde– and No-Added-Formaldehyde–Bonded Particleboard as Influenced by Temperature and Relative Humidity

Forest Products Journal, 2012
ABSTRACT It is well documented that temperature and humidity can influence formaldehyde emissions from composite panels that are produced using urea-formaldehyde (UF)–type adhesives. This work investigates the effect of temperature and humidity on newer commercial California Air Resources Board (CARB) phase II–compliant particleboard produced ...
