Development of Sustainable MgO–C Refractories Using MgO–C Recyclates and a Novel Eco‐Friendly Fructose–Tannin Binder Crosslinked With Citric Acid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops sustainable MgO–C refractories using recycled materials and eco‐friendly fructose–tannin binders. The enhanced performance of citric acid as a cross‐linker and functional additives on mechanical and thermomechanical properties was examined. Characterization included strength tests, immersion trials, and microstructural and inclusion

Evaluation of Some Physico-Mechanical Properties and Formaldehyde Emission of Ecological Chipboards Produced from Annual Residue Plant Stems

open access: yesDrvna Industrija
Urea formaldehyde glue is one of the most preferred glues in the production of wood composite panels. It has many advantages such as economy, effective adhesive power and easy use.

Global atmospheric budget of acetaldehyde: 3-D model analysis and constraints from in-situ and satellite observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We construct a global atmospheric budget for acetaldehyde using a 3-D model of atmospheric chemistry (GEOS-Chem), and use an ensemble of observations to evaluate present understanding of its sources and sinks.

Ideal Molecular Sieving with a Dense MOF for Helium Upgrading with Highly Diffusion Selective Mixed Matrix Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.

Sensitivity to grid resolution in the ability of a chemical transport model to simulate observed oxidant chemistry under high-isoprene conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Formation of ozone and organic aerosol in continental atmospheres depends on whether isoprene emitted by vegetation is oxidized by the high-NOx pathway (where peroxy radicals react with NO) or by low-NOx pathways (where peroxy radicals react by alternate

Molecules with a peptide link in protostellar shocks: a comprehensive study of L1157 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Interstellar molecules with a peptide link -NH-C(=O)-, like formamide (NH$_2$CHO), acetamide (NH$_2$COCH$_3$) and isocyanic acid (HNCO) are particularly interesting for their potential role in pre-biotic chemistry.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Contributions to local- and regional-scale formaldehyde concentrations [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2019
Reducing ambient formaldehyde concentrations is a complex task because formaldehyde is both a primary and a secondary air pollutant, with significant anthropogenic and biogenic sources of volatile organic compound (VOC) precursor emissions.

Development of phenol-formaldehyde resin with low formaldehyde emissions that respects LEED certification [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Wood Products Journal, 2014
AbstractIn the last years, production of particleboards with good overall performance and very low formaldehyde emission has been a challenge to wood based panels (WBP) industry, mainly since the re-classification of formaldehyde by the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) as ‘carcinogenic to humans (Group 1)’.

TIMASSS : The IRAS16293-2422 Millimeter And Submillimeter Spectral Survey: Tentative Detection of Deuterated Methyl Formate (DCOOCH3) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
High deuterium fractionation is observed in various types of environment such as prestellar cores, hot cores and hot corinos. It has proven to be an efficient probe to study the physical and chemical conditions of these environments.
