Reduction of formaldehyde emission from plywood using composite resin composed of resorcinol–formaldehyde and urea-modified scallop shell nanoparticles [PDF]
More than 200,000 tons of scallop shells are disposed annually 1 alone in Japan. Nanoparticles derived from scallop shells have the potential to adsorb gaseous formaldehyde; therefore such discarded shells have now been tested as additive filler in ...

The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.

This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Quantitative adsorbate structure determination under catalytic reaction conditions [PDF]
Current methods allow quantitative local structure determination of adsorbate geometries on surfaces in ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) but are incompatible with the higher pressures required for a steady-state catalytic reactions. Here we show that photoelectron

Contributions to local- and regional-scale formaldehyde concentrations [PDF]
Reducing ambient formaldehyde concentrations is a complex task because formaldehyde is both a primary and a secondary air pollutant, with significant anthropogenic and biogenic sources of volatile organic compound (VOC) precursor emissions.

Real-time quantitative analysis of volatile products generated during solid-state polypropylene thermal oxidation [PDF]
Analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during PP thermal oxidation under three oxygen partial pressures (0%, 21% and 100% of atmospheric pressure) at 140 C was performed by proton transfer reaction coupled with Fourier transform ion cyclotron ...
