Bulk‐Boundary Correspondence of Semimetal Ru3Sn7 and Topological Surface States on Chemically Realistic Terminations

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Symmetry‐protected band crossings in the bulk Ru3Sn7 and topological surface states on various terminations. Abstract Ru3Sn7 is experimentally demonstrated as an efficient catalyst, with potential utilization of topological surface states for hydrogen evolution reaction.

Toward Enhancing Chiro‐Optical and Magneto‐Optical Properties of Magnetic Nanocrystals by Surface Plasmons

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Here, recent progress is highlighted in colloidal magnetoplasmonic hybrid nanomaterials, with a focus on chiral plasmonics. Metal nanocrystals with intrinsic chiroptical features can lead to a combination of chiral plasmonics and magneto‐optics effects when interacting with the magnetic counterpart, offering a foundation for systematically designing ...

Philosophy of mathematics: Intuitionism and formalism

open access: yes, 1913
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the intuitionism and formalism. In Kant, one find an old form of intuitionism almost completely abandoned in which time and space are taken to be the forms of conception inherent in human reason.

Strongly Coupled Exciton–Hyperbolic‐Phonon‐Polariton Hybridized States in hBN‐Encapsulated Biased Bilayer Graphene

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Excitons in biased bilayer graphene are electrically tunable excitations in the mid‐infrared (MIR) spectrum, where optical transitions are typically scarce. In this work, it is demonstrated that when the bilayer is encapsulated in hexagonal‐boron‐nitride (hBN)—a material supporting optical phonons and hyperbolic‐phonon‐polaritons (HPhPs) in the MIR—the

Anomalous Refractive Index Modulation and Giant Birefringence in 2D Ferrielectric CuInP2S6

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
An unprecedented anomalous thickness‐dependent change in refractive index is reported in CuInP2S6 (δn$\delta{\rm n}$∼23.2%). Furthermore, CuInP2S6 also exhibits giant birefringence in the blue‐ultraviolet regime (|nOOP ‐ nIP|∼1.24), the largest of any known material within this wavelength regime.

Nonlocal Coupling in Hybrid Bilayer Metasurfaces via Out‐of‐Plane Quadrupole Surface Lattice Resonance

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible metallic metasurface sticker is placed on a dielectric metasurface to study interlayer optical coupling. A bright quadrupolar surface lattice resonance in the top layer and a dark quadrupole mode in the bottom layer hybridize into symmetric and antisymmetric modes.

A. W. Ambros and F. P. G. Laurencin: Two Antiformalistic Views on the Viennese Musical Life of the 1870s?

open access: yesMusicologica Austriaca, 2015
In the 1870s, both August Wilhelm Ambros and Ferdinand Peter Graf Laurencin worked as reviewers of music in Vienna: Ambros had regularly been writing for the Wiener Zeitung since 1872, and Laurencin was, among other things, a Viennese correspondent for ...
