Mechanisms of damage formation in semiconductors
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2009The damage accumulation in ion-implanted semiconductors is analysed using Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (RBS). When energetic ions are implanted in a material, they transfer their energy mainly into atomic collision processes (nuclear energy loss) and in electronic excitations (electronic energy loss).

DNA Damage Focus Formation Assay
2019Advanced techniques allow investigating cellular DNA damage measurements. Ionizing radiation produces multiple DNA damages. Among them, DNA double strand breaks are most toxic to cells. DSBs can form mutations, chromosome aberrations, and cell killing.

Formation Damage in Heavy-Oil Formation During Steamflooding
Proceedings of SPE Asia-Pacific Conference, 1991Abstract An experimental study was undertaken to examine formation damage due to plugging caused by precipitates and scales generated from the dissolution of silicate compounds and associated minerals. The experimental tests include: roller oven tests, petrographic, SEM and EDEX studies. The tests were carried out at various temperatures

[Role of DNA damage in the formation of radiation damage to chromosomes].
Radiobiologiia, 1986The data are reviewed on the role of various DNA lesions in the formation of structural damages to chromosomes. The concepts are developed that the molecular damages to nuclear DNA induce chromosome mutagenesis.

Prevention and Control of Formation Damage
Proceedings of SPE Oklahoma City Regional Meeting, 1977WELL COMPLETION All wells are susceptible to formation damage at any time during the life of a well. Some damage sources are drilling fluids, cement filtrates, water and/or emulsion blocking, oil wetting of silicate surfaces, "dirty" treating fluids, and clays.

Formation and repair of oxidative damage in the mitochondrial DNA
Mitochondrion, 2014The mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) encodes for only 13 polypeptides, components of 4 of the 5 oxidative phosphorylation complexes. But despite this apparently small numeric contribution, all 13 subunits are essential for the proper functioning of the oxidative phosphorylation circuit.

Influence of Drill-in Fluids Composition on Formation Damage
SPE Journal, 2003SummaryDrill-in fluids are generally water-based muds (WBMs) containing a viscosifier, a fluid-loss reducer, salts, and sized calcium carbonate particles. Formation damage mechanisms induced by the use of WBM formulations have been extensively studied and correspond to different phenomena such as water trapping, polymer adsorption and retention, and ...

Technology Focus: Formation Damage
Journal of Petroleum Technology, 2018Technology Focus Coreflooding is one of the principal tools through which we qualify drilling and completion fluids and assess the potential for formation damage, but is it relevant? By “relevant,” I mean does it give an accurate portrayal of the likely performance of the selected fluids in terms of potential damage and how effectively a

Formation Damage by CO2-Induced Asphaltene Precipitation
SPE International Symposium and Exhibition on Formation Damage Control, 2006Abstract To increase productivity from crude oil reservoirs, carbondioxide (CO2) is usually injected during secondary and/or tertiary recovery. While CO2 injection significantly increases the amount of oil recovered, it causes asphaltene deposition at high concentrations.
