Formations of formations: hierarchy and stability
Proceedings of the 2004 American Control Conference, 2004In this paper, we consider a hierarchy of vehicle formations exchanging information among themselves with the intention of completing a given mission at pre-specified coordinates in space. The objective is to understand how the communication infrastructure can be used to construct a decentralized controller and how it influences the stability of ...

“Formation” in Formation Revisited
2021Identity and conscience formation and character development in adolescent boys depends upon acquiring human capital via inductive observation, imitation, and experience. Sociality and social interaction are the common denominators of male adolescent identity formation, conscience formation, and character development. Military schools create and sustain

Formate ester formation in amide solutions
Origins of life and evolution of the biosphere, 1988Simple aliphatic alcohols, deoxynucleosides and nucleosides undergo reaction with formamide yielding formate esters. Formate ester formation was observed to occur slowly at 100 degrees C and more rapidly at 130 degrees C. As expected, formate esters were hydrolyzed to the alcohol and formic acid upon heating in aqueous solution.

String-processing and editing operators have been notably absent from most high-level general-purpose programming languages. With the exception of the "substring" function, all formating of character strings and numbers has been done via I/O statements.

▪ Abstract Heterocysts are microaerobic, N2-fixing cells that form in a patterned array within O2-producing filamentous cyanobacteria. Structural features of heterocysts can be predicted from consideration of their physiology. This review focuses on the spacing mechanism that determines which cells will differentiate, and on the regulation of the ...

This chapter surveys the sizable and growing literature on coalition formation. We refer to theories in which one or more groups of agents (“coalitions”) deliberately get together to jointly determine their actions. The defining idea of a coalition, in this chapter, is that of a group which can coordinate agreements among its members, while it ...
