Nationalist Attitudes and Exclusionist Reactions in Former Soviet Republics

This chapter analyses the association between nationalist orientations and exclusionist reactions across five republics of the former Soviet Union. It analyses titular as well as Russian patriotism and chauvinism in relation to negative stereotyping of the outgroup and to social distance from the outgroup as manifestations of exclusionism.

AGRICULTURAL OUTPUT AND PRODUCTIVITY IN THE FORMER SOVIET REPUBLICS

The paper reviews agricultural development in the fifteen former Soviet republics over the period 1965-1998. Production functions are estimated and productivity differences and changes calculated. Large differences were found in terms of productivity and growth between the republics.
