Gelatinization with formic acid
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 19791. A study has been made of the gelatins obtained by treating a number of fresh and fossil collagens with dilute formic acid. 2. Compositions of their peptides separated by filtration through polyacrylamide gels has been established. 3. Solubilization results in the freeing of much aspartic acid and less glycine, the amounts being determined for the ...

FORMIC ACID OR FORMIC ACID–FORMALIN AS A SILAGE ADDITIVE
Canadian Journal of Animal Science, 1973Three methods of ensiling an alfalfa–bromegrass mixture were compared: field-wilted (W) (45% dry matter (DM)); direct-cut (F) (24% DM) with 85% formic acid added at the harvester at 0.5% w/w; and direct-cut (FF) (25% DM) with a formic acid–formalin mixture similarly added at 0.5% w/w. The formic acid–formalin mixture was a 1:1 ratio of 85% formic acid

Dissociation constants of formic acid and formic acid-d
Transactions of the Faraday Society, 1963It is shown by conductivity measurements that DCO/sub 2/H has a smaller dissociation constant than HCO/sub 2/H in aqueous solution. The observed difference, e (1000 to 2000 pK = 0.035 surface proces 0.002, agrees with a theoretical calculation of the secondary isotope effect. (auth)
