Evolution of the North American seed‐harvester ant genus Veromessor (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, EarlyView.
Phylogenomics resolves evolutionary relationships among Veromessor seed‐harvesting ants across arid western North America. Ecological and morphological traits evolved rapidly and repeatedly in response to habitat. Genomic and morphological species delimitations are broadly congruent despite polymorphisms in colour and colony founding.

Quantifying predation pressure along an urbanisation gradient in Denmark using artificial caterpillars

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2014
Urbanisation results in a marked modification of habitats and influences several ecological processes, some of which give rise to beneficial ecological services. Natural pest control, the effect of predators on prey is one of such services. We quantified

Organization of honeydew collection by foragers of different species of ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae): Effect of colony size and species specificity

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2015
Aphid honeydew is one of the main energy sources for various ants in the temperate zone, nevertheless relatively little is known about the organization of the work of honeydew foragers (aphid milkers).
