Fracture and localized instability are two important modes of failure in the cold working of metals. In cold forging operations, axial surface cracks result at a critical value of circumferential tensile strain (ε2) that is dependent on the magnitude of the corresponding axial strain (ε1).

On the limits of complexity in living forms
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 2015In a recent book chapter, Morris, S.C., 2013. Life: the final frontier for complexity? In: Lineweaver, C.H., Davies, P.C.W., Ruse, M. (Eds.), Complexity and the Arrow of Time. pp. 135-161. argues that there are limits to the complexity of life forms and that with the exception of human beings these limits have already been reached.

Forming Limits of Thermoplastic Composites
Key Engineering Materials, 2014Defects and shape distortions can arise during thermoforming of thermoplastic composites. Design guidelines for thermoplastic composites can help to prevent such defects. The material selection and geometry definition are part of the design guidelines.

Fracture-based forming limit criteria for anisotropic materials in sheet metal forming
This paper is concerned with modeling of fracture-based forming limit criteria for anisotropic materials in sheet metal forming to predict the sudden fracture in complicated forming processes.

I should like to speak somewhat more sharply about the modern story. It is easy enough to show indignation, take me by the hand, and point to the quality of a few, shall we say, remarkable stories that have appeared recently. But I am deliberately exaggerating when I assert that the story today is inadequate and untenable.

Limited Form of Wegener's Granulomatosis
Chest, 1976A 40-year-old man had a pathologically proved limited form of Wegener's granulomatosis complicating recurrent and massive hemoptysis from his cavitary pulmonary lesion. Of significant interest and clinical importance is the unusual location of the patient's pulmonary lesion, occurring in the posterior segment of the right upper lobe.

The concept of limited forms of Wegener's granulomatosis
The American Journal of Medicine, 1970Four cases that support the concept of a limited form of Wegener's granulomatosis are described. The pathologic and pulmonary findings represent a variant of classic Wegener's granulomatosis, lacking the renal involvement that occurs with the latter.

In this chapter we initially explain why the limited company is such a popular organisation and the steps that have to be taken to convert a business into a company. There then follows an examination of how to attract the financial support of a larger section of the community and finally we consider the different forms in which this support could be ...
