A Proposed Generalized Model for Forming Limit Diagram

Volume 6A: Materials and Fabrication, 2015
One of the most significant approaches for predicting formability is the use of forming limit diagrams (FLDs). The development of the generalized model integrates other models. The first model is based on Von-Misses yield criterion (traditionally used for isotropic material) and power law constitutive equation considering the strain hardening exponent.

On the prediction of the forming-limit diagram of sheet metals

International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1992
Abstract Models for predicting the formability of sheet metals which take into account a single mode of strain localization have not yet led to accurate predictions. In the present work an attempt is made to include some important experimentally determined parameters in the model, i.e.

Determination of Forming Limit Diagrams for Titanium Sheets

CIRP Annals, 1981
According to their peculiar properties, the applications of Titanium and its alloys are widely developped; so, the evaluation of their drawability is of a great interest. We have performed our tests with an experimental device of NAKAZIMA's type and we have set up a suitable interoolation method, to evaluate strains at the onset of necking.

Investigation of lubrication effects in the right side of the forming limit diagrams

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2014
In the present work, effect of lubrications was investigated in the right side of the forming limit diagram (FLD) by using the out-of-plane formability test. Interstitial-free steel (IF) sheet was used in this study. Primarily, mechanical properties of material like yield, tensile strengths, strain hardening coefficient (n), normal and planar ...

Forming‐limit diagram numerical predictions: yield criteria studies

Communications in Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2002
AbstractIn this work, it is shown the numerical formulation for prediction of the right‐hand side of forming limit diagram (FLD). Five different yield criterias were used: Von Mises', Hill's (1948), Hill's (1979), Logan and Hosford's and Hill's (1993).

Influence of Pre-Forming on the Forming Limit Diagram of Aluminum and Steel Sheets

Key Engineering Materials, 2007
This paper presents a method for the experimental determination of forming limit diagrams under non linear strain paths. The method consists in pre-forming the sheets under two different strain conditions: uniaxial and biaxial, and then stretching the samples, cut out of the preformed sheets, using a Nakajima testing setup.

Forming limit diagram of DP600 steel sheets during electrohydraulic forming

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2019
Electrohydraulic forming is a typical high-speed forming which can significantly improve the formability of sheet metal. The objectives of this paper are to explore the influence of preset wire length and lifting height on the equi-biaxial stretching forming limit of DP600 steel sheets during electrohydraulic forming.

Forming limit diagrams for single-point incremental forming of aluminium sheet

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2005
The single-point incremental forming (SPIF) process is described. The maximum draw angle for SPIF is defined and specific values are given for 3003-0 and 5754-0 aluminium. Forming limit diagrams (FLDs) are developed for incremental forming of aluminium sheet, using SPIF.

Methods of Establishing Forming Limit Diagram of Tube Hydroforming

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Forming severity is one of the significant indexes to assess formability of tube hydroforming. The state of strain can be accurately reflected when tube reaches forming limit, mechanical rules during forming processes can be revealed as well by using the forming limit diagram (FLD).
